Co-opted Governor

Manor Park Primary School has always been a very special and important part of my life.

I attended the school as a child myself only a few years after it opened, and my three children also spent their primary years here.

I first became a Parent Governor in 1987 and was part of the amalgamation process as the Infant and Junior schools became one Primary school. I served on the Finance sub-committee and also chaired the Premises sub-committee. During this time, I worked as an occasional supply teacher at Manor Park, eventually becoming a full-time member of staff in 1999. I continued my governing role as the staff governor for a number of years following this appointment.

For many years I was Years 1 and 2 phase leader before moving to Year 4 as a year group leader. During this time, I also had the position of Assistant Headteacher and Literacy Lead.

I retired from full time teaching in 2015 and was asked to join Governing Body as a Co-opted governor the following year. I chair the Standards in Teaching and Learning committee meeting and am the nominated governor for English. I have had the privilege of working once again in a supply capacity at Manor Park as and when the need arises.

I very much enjoy my role as a governor and feel it i a privilege to work alongside the dedicated and passionate headteacher and staff as we ensure that all children who provide them every opportunity of going on to live happy, fulfilled and successful lives, and to be true lifelong learners.
