together we succeed.
Why attendance is important
Belonging & Wellbeing
Regular attendance helps children feel part of our school community, build friendships and develop confidence and resilience.
Learning & Progress
Being in school every day helps children make the best possible progress academically, socially and emotionally.
Opportunities
Good attendance ensures children can take part in the full range of experiences we offer, including trips, clubs, performances and wider school life.
Brighter Futures
Positive attendance habits from an early age help children develop the skills and confidence they need for future success.
Reporting an absence
If your child is unable to attend school, please let us know as soon as possible on the first day of absence. Please keep us informed if the absence continues.
If we do not receive an explanation for a child's absence, school staff will contact parents or carers as part of our attendance and safeguarding procedures.

When attending school feels difficult
We understand that there can be times when attending school feels difficult for a child or family. Our Inclusion and Pastoral Team, Learning Mentors and SENCo work closely with children and families to understand any barriers to attendance and provide the right support.
This may include support with anxiety, friendships, emotional wellbeing, SEND needs, medical conditions or changes at home. We take a supportive and individualised approach, working with you and, where needed, external professionals.

Illness and punctuality
Practical information to help you decide when your child should attend school and what to do about appointments and late arrival.
Is my child too ill for school?
Children should attend whenever they are well enough. If your child has diarrhoea or vomiting, they should stay away from school until 48 hours after the last episode. Read the NHS guidance on illness and school.
What about medical appointments?
Wherever possible, arrange routine medical and dental appointments outside school hours. Where this is unavoidable, inform the school in advance and provide evidence of the appointment, such as a letter, text message or appointment card. Children should attend before and/or after their appointment wherever possible.
What happens if my child is late?
The school gates and registration close at 9:00am. Children should arrive before this time. If your child arrives after 9:00am, they must enter through the school office so their attendance can be recorded correctly. We monitor punctuality and work with families where repeated lateness becomes a concern.
